Playing a DVD using Windows Media Player


It is not necessary for you to purchase another program to view your DVDs on your computer as Windows Media Player can handle this task for you. There are however a few things that are required:

  • Have Microsoft XP installed on your PC
  • Have a DVD-ROM drive
  • A software or hardware DVD decoder must be installed on your system
  • You must have at least the Windows Media Player 10 version

    Normally if you try to read a DVD with Media Player, you will get an error message:
  • Windows Media Player cannot play the DV because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer

How to play a DVD with Windows Media Player

  • 1. Open Windows Media Player and insert the DVD in the DVD drive.
  • 2. If the disc does not start playing automatically, click Quick Access Panel button on the Windows Media Player menu and select the drive that contains the DVD.
